General Rules (Civil & Criminal) 2018 allow both sides use of paper since 2018

Supreme  Court Circular
A circular issued on February 13, 2020 by Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) stated that now A4 size papers with print on both sides can be used in Supreme Court in all filings. Currently legal-size papers are used for filing and papers are printed on only one side.


General Rules (Civil & Criminal)     2018
The following is submitted on the subject matter


1 That the High Court of Judicature for  Rajasthan, in exercise of the rule making powers conferred upon it by Article 227 of the Constitution of India and the other powers enabling it  in that behalf, and with the approval of Governor of Rajasthan, has made the revised Rules for the guidance of the Courts and tribunals subordinate to it.

2 That as per Order 1 Rule 1 these Rules may be called the General Rules (Civil & Criminal)     2018

3 That these Rules have come  come into force from the date of publication  of notification in the Official Gazette  i. e. 4 July 2018  and   apply to all Suits. Appeals, judicial proceedings of whatever nature and matters connected thereto , so far as may be, in all the Courts and tribunals subordinate to the High Court, pending or commenced on or subsequent to that date.(O1 R 2)

ORDER 20
SUITS AND APPEALS IN GENERAL

Rule 1 Presentation and Registration
(a) All pleadings, Applications, Petitions and any other relevant papers  of whatsoever nature filed in the course of judicial proceedings shall be fairly and legibly printed with double space on stout durable Paper of foolscap size in Hindi / English; duly paginated, indexed and stitched together in   Paper Book Form; both sides of the Paper shall be used, and a quarter margin, together with  at least one & half inch of space at the top and bottom of each sheet shall be left.

ORDER 32
PREPARATION OF RECORDS

Rule 1 Presentation and Registration
(a)All pleadings, Applications. Petitions and any other relevant Paper of whatsoever nature except those presented by a prisoner or other person in
duress or under restraint in Court or its officer and also  powers of attorney , filed in the course of judicial proceedings, shall be fairly and legibly printed in double space on stout durable Papers of foolscap size in Hindi. Both sides of the Paper shall be used. and a quarter margin, together with at least one & half inch of space al the top and bottom of each sheet, shall be left.
6 That  ORDER 20/ RULE 1 AND ORDER 32/ R 1  are the embodiment of the environmental concerns. These rules signify the protection of trees. Use of both sides of the Paper in the state of Rajasthan must be ensured with the utmost urgency.
Hence  environment friendly initiative as mentioned in the General Rules (Civil & Criminal) 2018 for use of both sides of the paper  must see the light of the day as soon as possible.

Last but not the least the better legible quality of the PDF copy of General Rules (Civil & Criminal)  2018 be uploaded on the official website of Honorable High Court of Judicature for Rajasthan. 
PDF copy of  Rules of the High Court of Rajasthan, 1952 as uploaded on the website is legible and of good quality .  The same standard for the  General Rules (Civil & Criminal) 2018 shall be appreciated.
